Suzuki has always provided Philippines with value packed motorcycles and compact vehicles of highest quality, affordability and safety. It aims to be the customer's brand of choice for having a name with heritage of trust and reliability. Suzuki recently launched its new offroader SUV named Suzuki Jimny. There is something more to this Jimny, than being a conventional SUV. It is compact, practical and undeniable value for money. According to Suzuki, “Its a car that lets you do your own thing and its nimble size makes it ideal for zipping around town”.
Engine, Mileage and Variants
The Suzuki Jimny is available in two variants namely JX which has a 5 speed manual transmission and JLX which has an option of 5 speed manual transmission or 4 speed automatic transmission. It is integrated with a 1.3-litre DOHC engine which has four cylinders and sixteen valves. It is based on a multi point fuel injection fuel supply system. The maximum power that it can produce is 81 hp at 5500 rpm alongside a maximum torque measuring 110 Nm at 4500 rpm. It can deliver a mileage of around 7.3 litre per 100 km and can reach from 0 to 100 kmph in 14.1 seconds sporting a top speed measuring 185 kmph.
The Jimny has retained its look of late nineties, the time when it was launched first, which gives it a very retro look and the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate retains its retro feel. It has a total length measuring 3545 mm and a total width of 1600 mm. It stands tall to the height of 1705 mm so the driver gets a great view above the traffic. The wide wheelbase of 2250 mm makes it look very boxy and huge giving it a beast look. The JX trim comes with steel rims wheels and the JLX trim comes with 15 inch alloy wheels with a tire size of 205/70 R15. It also has a very distinctive grille and huge headlights with a black outlining in the front along with a black bumper below it.
This SUV is equipped with quite a number of interior features which would offer you a comfortable and luxurious riding experience. It has a boot space of 286 litres (slightly disappointing) and the cabin design is based on the ergonomic studies that gives all the components in the car a natural placement and shape. All the meters in the front display are large and clustered together, with a power assisted steering wheel in front of them. It is equipped with an AM/FM sound system and CD player for all the entertainment that you need while driving. Considering those long sunny days, it has got an air conditioning system that has all the controls within your reach making the environment more comfortable with a favourable temperature.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
To give you immunity against all the possible impacts and threats it is blessed with many safety features. Equipped with disc and drum brakes it comes with an A/T shift lock which is available only in the JLX trim and also high mount stop lamp which is present in both the trims. Jimny is also equipped with Suzuki's patented TECT design on body and has side impact beams which absorbs all the force in case of a collision. Suzuki has also provided you with fog lamps in this car, so you can drive with better visibility during a foggy weather. An added safety feature of key-less entry is also provided by the automakers.
When the going gets tough, Jimny is the car that would beat most of the city drives. It is a true fuel efficient and flood capable car that doesn't look like your regular SUV. In terms of luxury, it is not the best car around, in terms of value for money, it is probably your best bet in the market.
