The G Class was initially developed as a military vehicle and was later introduced as a civilian version in 1979. The new Mercedes Benz G Class is available in 3 variants namely G500 short, G500 and G 55 AMG and these variants are powered by 2 powerful engines of capacity 5.4 litre and 5.5 litre. The maximum power delivered across all the variants ranges from 285 kW at 6000 rpm to 373 kW at 6100 rpm and the peak torque reached ranges from 530 Nm at 2800-4800 rpm to a humongous 700 Nm at 2750-4000 rpm. The optimized direct injection system and the advanced turbochargers work in harmonics with a highly refined combustion process which reduces fuel consumption and also curbs exhaust emission. With light weight composition used in engine design, there is a considerable decrease in the total weight of the drive, owing to which the power to weight ratio increases and efficiency increases.
