Mahindra Xylo Review

Overview

Filipino auto market welcomed the Indian brand Mahindra with its MPV Mahindra Xylo to cater the needs of big family serving as a multi-purpose and utility vehicle. It made its comeback in the Philippines under the distributorship of Asian Brands Motors Corporation. Many refreshments have been done in the Mahindra Xylo since it was launched in the market to make it more comfortable and appealing to the customers. Available in the seating configuration from seven to nine, the all new Xylo is made a bit stiffer than older models and the anti-roll bars at the front and rear have been tweaked to make it more stable during high speeds. Mahindra Xylo has a diesel powertrain with mHawk technology and the capacity of 2.2- litre which is good enough to knock out 120 hp power and 280 Nm torque. Few cosmetic updates have been done on the outside, like adding a chrome strip on the bonnet above the grille and one on the tailgate. The MPV has 60:40 split seats in the third row which can be stowed down to increase the cargo space. Chrome and wood accents have been used inside in the dashboard and trims along with the dual tone black and beige color schemes to make the cabin more elegant and premium.

Mileage and Fuel economy

The 2.2-litre mHawk engine claimed to return the fuel economy of 14.09 kmpl in city and 10.8 kmpl on the highway which is better than its rival Innova in the same segment.

Power

Mahindra Xylo is packed with the 2.2-litre inline four-cylinder Common Rail Direct injection (CRDi) mHawk diesel engine which is capable of producing a maximum power of 120 hp at 4000 rpm along with the peak torque of 280 Nm between 1800 and 2800 rpm.

Acceleration & Pickup

With its sole 2.2-litre mHawk engine, the new Mahindra Xylo can race from standstill to 100 kmph in 16 seconds with a top speed attaining to 155 kmph. Since this is an MPV, the acceleration and pick up looks pretty decent considering its kerb weight.

The facelifted Xylo sports side body graphics and rear decal giving an appeal based on Asian taste. Chrome treatment is not restricted to the strips but extended to the smoked headlamps that are adorned in chrome garnish. Another chrome strip is also added above the number plate at the rear end making the entire look better than the conventional MPV. The new Xylo has got all-new front and rear bumpers while sticking to the previous generation model's side cladding and roof rails which give the MPV a bolder look. This Indian MPV also features fog lamp insert and wheel arch cladding on the outside which add sportiness to its appearance. While there are some major upgrades in the new model, there are few features that are absent in the lower variants like side decals, chrome garnished headlights, footstep with integrated front mud flaps and wheel covers.
