Review of Honda Pilot

Overview

Introduction

Honda Pilot was introduced in the Philippines market for the first time in 2012 and back then it took the market by storm. Pilot lies in the premium SUV segment and is one in its class vehicle. Early February we heard from Honda Philippines newsroom that  next-generation version of Honda Pilot is soon to arrive on the Philippines shores. And on 24th February 2016, the car was officially put on-air on the Honda Philippines website. The 2016 Pilot is powered by a 3.5L  V6 24-valve SOHC i-VTEC petrol mill. The said mill is known to propel 284 PS at 6200 rpm of maximum power along with a peak torque of 353 Nm at 5000 rpm. Powered by Honda Earth Dreams Technology the mill will perform well on economy and emission side. Transferring power to all four wheels is the new 6-speed automatic transmission that is built under Honda Earth Dreams Technology. In all the 2016 Pilot is great on the performance front and comes packed with best-in-class technologies, luxuries and safety.

Engine, mileage & variants

Under Honda Pilot's strong rugged hood is present a 3.5L SOHC i-VTEC mill that comes powered by Honda's in-house Earth Dreams Technology. The said engine tech with Variable Cylinder Management deviation technology leads to improved fuel economy and lower CO2 emission. Coming to the power and torque figures, the 2016 Honda Pilot is way ahead of its previous version. The 3.5L can churn out 284 PS of maximum power and 353 Nm of peak torque. This high power is propelled to all four wheels through a new Intelligent Variable Torque Management All Wheel Drive system that leads to greater handling and confident all-weather drive.

Exteriors

Exterior is one such area where the 2016 Honda Pilot shows a lot of improvement. The exact dimensions figures reads as 4941 mm x 2296 mm x 1773 mm (l x w x h), enough making it fall higher among its other premium SUV rivals. Also, the wheelbase and ground clearance measuring are satisfactory, counting to be 2820 mm and 185 mm respectively, ensuring enough legroom and smooth ride on rough terrains. Coming to the new body language, it is sleek and sporty, all at once, giving the new Pilot a head-turning presence. Overall the car carries gen-next looks with better curves and strong aerodynamic lines running through its body. To the list of exterior revisions are included LED Projector headlamps with day time running lights, LED high-mount brake lamp, glass printed antenna, 18-inch aluminum wheels, chrome usage and swapped back tail lamps.

Interiors

Like the exterior, the interior design too is eye catchy and inviting. In addition to being stylish and luxury ridden the new Pilot carries many convenience and comforting features. To its long list of amenities are included triple-zone automatic A/C, power windows and door locks, 4-way power seat, multi-function leather covered steering wheel, informative instrument binnacle, and premium leather wrapped seat . Also is included a 8-inch touch screen audio system with Bluetooth, iPod & iPhone connectivity, many storage compartments, comforting seats and large boot space of 305 liters.

Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous

Safety has always been on Honda's priority, not only its high-end cars but also the mass market comes stuffed with best-in-class safety equipment. The 2016 Honda Pilot is no exception to this trend and carries all the essential stuff. To the list are included safety stuff like Blind Spot Information, Cross Traffic Monitor, Advance Compatibility Engineering, Knee Bloster, Side Curtain Airbag, ABS, EBD, HSA, VSA, Multi-view Reverse Camera and much more.

Verdict

The crux is all-new Honda Pilot is a great car to buy, with all the major equipment, great performance figures and strong safety front. The only issue is its price and single gasoline engine variant.
