BYD or Build Your Dreams is a Chinese automaker which opened its first showroom in Philippines in Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City. Its BYD F0 is an A-segment five-door hatchback which resembles Toyota Aygo in many ways. Formerly known as BYD F1, this hatchback is one of the most affordable cars from whole BYD lineup. Being a small family car, it is perfect for close-quarters city driving and casual rides.

In Philippines this hatchback is available in three variants namely G-i MT, GLX-i MT and GL-i AT. All these three variants are powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder DOHC engine which churns out a maximum power of 67 hp at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque of 90 Nm at 4500 rpm. Further, the G-i trim and GLX-i trim are mated with a 5-speed manual transmission while the GL-i trim is powered by a 5-speed automatic transmission which sends power to its front wheels. This engine is assisted with multi-point sequential fuel injection system which helps it to deliver an impressive fuel efficiency of 23.8 kmpl.
Towards the exterior, the new BYD F0 looks sporty, peppy, young and stylish. The front fascia features a compact honeycomb grille along with a pair of projector type halogen headlamps. Bearing resemblance to Toyota Aygo, the rear end is integrated with vertical combination tail lights. Moreover, the Chinese automaker has also blessed it with rear wiper and rear windshield defogger for further convenience. Further, the G-i MT trim rides on 14-inch steel rims while other two variants ride on 14-inch alloy wheels which are surrounded by tires measuring 165/60 R14.
The young and peppy look of the car is carried forward to its interior as well. The centre console is integrated with vertically stacked A/C dials and various switches. Moreover, the automaker has also provided a 2-speaker audio system with CD, AM/FM and AUX-port. Its comfortable seats are wrapped in standard fabric and are four-way manually adjustable to provide you further convenience. Apart from a spacious cabin, a boot worth 140-litre is also offered in this drive.
Safety, Braking and Miscellaneous
This decently priced hatchback is employed with some standard safety features. Its twin SRS airbag system consists of two airbags for the driver and front passenger. The 3H high rigid body construction of this car reduces the impact of a collision and protects the occupants in an event of a hit. The braking mechanism of F0 includes front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes which are further assisted with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) which maintain tire traction through hard braking.
The main USP of this car is its small size which helps it to fight city traffic with much ease. Moreover, it also offers many impressive features at comparatively low prices.
