Watch latest video reviews of BMW 7 Series to know about its interiors, exteriors, performance, mileage and more.
Since almost 40 years, the BMW 7-Series has been the flagship product for the German auto experts exemplifying the next level of luxury in automobiles. Although the 7-Series might soon be replaced in terms of comfort and luxury by the upcoming X7, but nonetheless the vehicle will remain as one of the most iconic and premium car models in history.
The 7-Series by BMW Motors is the top of the line luxury car that has been used as a medium of introducing new automobile technologies by the manufacturer. The first of these vehicles were launched by the German automakers back in 1977 and the vehicle is only available in either a full-size luxury sedan or a stretched limousine body style. BMW has constantly marketed the 7-Series as tomorrow’s luxury being created today, which has resulted in the vehicle’s iconic status among autofans across the globe. Being on the forefront of design innovation and automotive technology, the latest 7-Series is yet another flawless example of how the car makers have continuously revolutionized the world of luxury automobiles.
Being BMW’s flagship product, it would be totally unfair if the manufacturers would only provide the 7-Series with a single engine. Hence, the luxury sedan has been offered with a choice of 5 different engines that include a 4-cylinder, 6-cylinder and V8 petrol engines to suit a wide variety of buyers. A Straight-6 diesel engine is also offered in the Philippine market and will certainly enjoy a high demand. The turbocharged 4.4-litre V8 produces 450 hp with 650 Nm of torque making it one of the most powerful luxury sedans in the market. The 3.0-litre 6-cylinder petrol, on the other hand, generates nearly 326 hp @ 5500-6500 rpm. The 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol is also available with a semi-hybrid eDrive technology that produces 396 hp combining the power from the petrol mill and an electric motor. Without the eDrive, the same engine produces 258 hp @ 5000-6500 rpm. Coming to the 3.0-litre diesel drivetrain, although not very popular in luxury sedans, produces 265 hp @ 4000 rpm.
It would be totally nitpicking if we try to find any visible flaws in 7 Series’ design. Since it is the most premium offering by the manufacturers, they have left no leaf unturned to ensure that the vehicle excels in looks and elegance. The face comprises of the signature ‘Kidney grille’ and marvellously designed headlamp clusters that are powered by adaptive LED lamps and the BMW laserlight technology. The front air intake also looks quite stylish with sleek LED powered foglamps. The robust-looking shoulder lines flow from the tip of the headlamp clusters to the tail lights and add a touch of masculinity to the overall design. Doors are also embellished with chrome accents at the bottom on both the sides and windows. The 7-Series sedan’s rear is also as attractive as its front with the rear taillamps that wrap around the corners with chrome accent above the license plate. Dual exhaust pipes are also neatly packed in the rear bumper with sleek brake lights right above it.
Not expecting some of the most luxurious interiors from the 7 Series would also be totally unfair as it offers total comfort regardless of the seat you’re in. The front cabin looks totally luxurious with the wild looking dashboard that is offered in wood and leather finish and all the instruments are slightly tilted towards the driver to maximise ease in operation. BMW have provided all the occupants with extremely comfortable executive lounge seats with adjustable headrests and are all covered in Nappa leather upholstery. The rear cabin looks nothing less than an executive lounge with seats that have an inbuilt electronic massage system that is controlled through the touch command touch-screen panel located on the central armrest. It also features an extremely powerful Bowers and Wilkins audio system, which is unlike any other audio system you might have come across in a vehicle.
Safety is never a question in BMW vehicles and being their most prized offering, the 7 Series has been equipped with the most advanced safety and driver assisting features to ensure a smooth and safe ride. Apart from the disc brakes on all wheels and inclusion of features such as ABS and EBD, the vehicle has been outfitted with Driving Assist Plus, heads-up display, parking assist, night vision, lane control assistant, collision protection, active cruise control, brake assist and a 360 degree camera. The 7 Series’ carbon fiber intensive body construction also ensures maximum resistance against collisions while keeping the body weight to a bare minimum.
Vehicles like the BMW 7 Series do not need anyone’s approval and certainly not ours. Being on the forefront of the BMW fleet of luxury automobiles, the buyers will certainly get what they pay for with the powerful engine and tones of advanced technologies.
