Audi A1 Review
Audi A1 is the first car from this German automaker to have appeared in a super-mini avatar. Before it we have only got see Audi's big fighters in the field, keeping the company upright in front of its competitors. The majority of A1 parts are same as used by VW Group in manufacturing cars like Polo and Fabia. Also, being an upgraded form of Polo, don't expect any major transformation, but one thing is for sure that the car will ensure a better driving pleasure than its previous counterparts. Around the world, A1 is offered in three distinct engine options: 1.4L TFSI, 1.2L TFSI, and 1.6 TDI. Talking specifically about the Philippines market, Audi A1 is available in just one engine option, 1.4L TFSI. This petrol mill generates a good amount of power and torque.
From inside it's a perfect Audi, with classy cabin ambiance consisting of premium leather and scratch resistant materials. Also, the three-door version has a back seat with less legroom but what we can say spacious than that of Mini. Other interior amenities like the air-con system, high-tech entertainment system, interior mood lighting and more such things are there to redefine the luxury inside.
Engine, mileage and variant
Audi A1 runs on a 1.4L mill consisting of 4-cylinders and 16 valves, the said engine is coupled with a 7-speed dual clutch. Granted with a front-wheel-drive powertrain, A1 gives out a maximum power output of 120 hp @ 5000 rpm with a peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1500 rpm. With the help of its 1.4L churning machine this hatch Audi goes from notch to 100 in just 8.9 seconds and has a top speed of 203 km/h.
As for combined fuel consumption, A1 runs 100km in 5.3L fuel with a CO2 emission of 122.0g/km. Audi carries a 45L fuel tank, displaying a total range of 849 Km.
It can be quite intimating to own a style dipped Audi A1. Each aspect of the car is so well planned and designed that it becomes difficult to get your eyes off it. In short you can say it's the most stylish looking hatchback, until now. As for body dimensions A1 is 3954mm long, 1746 mm wide and 1422 mm tall. Wheelbase and ground clearance reads as good as 2469 mm and 121 mm respectively. This three-door car has a turning radius of 5.3 mm making its maneuverability through narrow roads easy.
As for styling features, Audi A1 comes crafted with an aggressive radiator grille, high-intensity LED-laced headlamps, elegant front fog lamps and green tinted windscreen with intermittent wipers.
Inside you'll see some comforting seats and eye soothing upholstery that are both nicely textured and at the same time rank high on quality. It has a full black interior space with some white and red highlights breaking the monotony every now and then. Talking about the boot space, being a three-door hatch A1 accommodates 270 liters of cargo with rear seats on and with rear seats down the boot space increase to 920 liters.
Comfort is taken care by automatic air conditioning system and with a good entertainment unit that includes CD/MP3/Radio and as many as eight speakers. Also, all the interior functions present on the center console are easy to understand and operate.
Safety, brakes and miscellaneous
Audi A1 is stuffed with a number of safety options like 4 airbags (driver, passenger, side, curtain), ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution, immobilizer, and security alarm. As for breaking and handling the rear and front wheels comes fitted with ventilated and solid disc respectively. In addition, A1 features energy regeneration ESP, anti-slip regulation and other traction control programs. The front axle is equipped with a McPherson Struts along with lower wishbones, an aluminum subframe, and a tubular anti-roll bar.
