MANILA: Honda is all set to extend its lineup with the introduction of a new model, WR-V in India on March 16. The cross hatch which is inspired from Honda Jazz has already gained a significant attention from the petrolheads even before its launch. With Honda maintaining a significant market position in the Philippines, the question of the introduction of its new model in the country arises. WR-V has already made its entry in Brazil in November 2016 and now it will be introduced in one of the prominent markets of Asia.
Honda WR-V's front is dominated by the Solid Wing Face and eye-catching headlights. To give it a rugged and tough appearance, it is equipped with significant body cladding. The side profile is quite similar to the Jazz which is quite evident from the character line along the doors. To further accentuate the rugged profile of the WR-V are present diamond-cut alloy wheels. At the back, bold tail lights and unique tailgate design completes the design. Topping it all off are the faux skid plates at the front and the back as well as roof rails at the top.
In the cabin, you get Jazz inspired interior and the equipment list includes 3-pod instrument panel, center stack touchscreen infotainment, and 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel. The cabin ambiance is further spiced up with splashes of black plastic and faux metal accents.
Under the hood, the WR-V will be offered with one petrol and one diesel engine options. The petrol option includes the 1.2-litre i-VTEC inline four cylinder engine which is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. Whereas, the diesel variant is powered will be powered by a 1.5-litre i-DTEC turbo-diesel engine which is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
Once launched, the Honda WR-V will be competing against Ford EcoSport, Hyundai i20 Cross Sport, and Toyota Etios Cross. We are not sure about its launch in the Philippines but, we hope to see it soon on our country’s roads.
