According to BMWBLOG, the output of the hybrid system will be rated at 372 hp which is 357 hp in the existing model. The current i8 gets its power from a 1.5-litre engine which delivers 228 hp maximum power and 320 Nm peak torque. Accompanying the 1.5-litre mill is a 129 hp front motor along with an 8-hp rear motor.
The experts also claim that the 2017 BMW i8 will clock 100 kmph mark in less than 4.2 seconds due to revised powertrain. According to the reports, the 7.1 kilowatt-hour battery pack will be also replaced with a 10-kW-hrs. This large battery pack is already in use for the BMW i8 Formula E-safety car.
