MANILA: Among many highlights of Paris Motor Show, Nissan booth has also attracted a significant attention from the visitors, the reason is the B-segment hatch, which has completed its first innings in a very significant manner. Recently, Nissan greeted the Philippines with its Godzilla and refreshed Altima at the recently concluded PIMS 2016 and now Nissan is making head turns at the ongoing Paris Motor Show. The Nissan Micra has entered into its 5th generation and is longer, wider, comes with more cabin space and features turbocharged powertrains option.
The next-gen Nissan Micra is inspired from the Sway Concept, which was first revealed at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. On the designing front some of the notable changes include V-motion grille, rear door handles hidden in the C-Pillars and a spoiler extending from the smooth roofline. In the cabin, the Micra features fully adjustable steering wheel, lowered driving position, 7-inch full color infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and a Bose six-speaker Personal sound system. The music system is further accompanied with Bose UltraNearfiled speakers combined with Bose PersonalSpace Virtual Audio Technology.
Considering the powertrain options, Micra Gen5 will be offered with a 0.9-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel, both with an power output of 91 PS. Later, a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated engine with 74 PS power will be introduced. Other features of Nissan Micra include Active Ride Control for enhanced ride comfort, Active Trace Control for reduced understeer and sharper handling. The roof spoiler helps Micra in achieving a drag coefficient of 0.29, which will help in improving the performance to a great extend.
The 2017 Micra will be available in 10 exciting color options including Energy Orange and customers will be able to customize their Micra in 125 different options. The sales of Micra will first begin in Europe in 2017 and for the Philippines, there is no word from the manufacturer about its entry.
