MANILA: The year is ending soon and in order to attract customers at this point of time, Mitsubishi Philippines Corporation (MMPC) has just introduced an additional variant of its prominent SUV, Montero Sport. Yes, Montero Sport is now available with one more variant named as GLX. The particular model is positioned at the entry level and comes as a 4X2 configuration with 6-speed manual transmission.
The exterior and interior styling have not received any major updates and under the hood, it is powered by a 2.4-litre 4N15 Clean Diesel engine which is capable of churning out a maximum power of 181 Ps at 3500 rpm while the peak torque measures 430 Nm at 2500 rpm. The power is transmitted to rear wheels and with a wide gear ratio and efficient clutch, the drive quality is improved to a great extent.
The list of features includes power windows, central door locking, multimedia infotainment, window switch illumination and automatic climate control. In addition to this, the safety features include Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and three-point ELR seatbelts with pretensioners.
The said variant has an introductory price of Php 1,280,000 while the retail sticker reads Php 1,395,000. Like the other variants of Montero Sport, the GLX variant also comes with a three-year warranty or 1000,000 km, whichever comes first.
This year Mitsubishi has offered a lot of new models in the Philippines, which include Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and Mitsubishi ASX. Adding an entry level model in the Montero Sport lineup might help the company in getting the last moment sales push. Let’s see what the number reflects later.
