MANILA: Since BMW has revealed its plans of introducing the top-of-the-line SUV, X7, its German rival, Audi also geared up for extending its Q lineup. Though the Audi Q8 will aim to compete against BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE, the German brands are working parallelly to take the competitive edge in the market. And now, Audi has finally revealed the first set of teaser images. The upcoming Q8 e-tron reflects a sleeker profile than Q7 and is all set to debut at the next year’s North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Whereas, the production version is expected to be revealed by 2019.
Looking at the teaser images, it can be concluded that the upcoming SUV carries the conventional traits of Audi with a unique set of revisions. The changes include single-frame grille which is wider and has vertical fins. The front bumper is also molded to look more aggressive and improve the aerodynamics through wide dual air intakes and a chin-like spoiler. Looking at the side profile the image reflects slightly curved bonnet and muscular character lines which run all over the body of Q8. What looks interesting are the shoulder lines, muscular wheel arches, and a coupe-like roofline.
These are just the features of the concept and the production version might include a series of changes.
Audi Head Of Design, Marc Lichte said, “ With the Audi Q8 concept, the company has evolved a new spearhead within our Q model line. The design of Q8 clearly reflects sportiness and prestige. What is more interesting towards the Q8 concept is that it offers more cabin space with four comfortable seats, even with the flat roof line.”
So, let’s wait for the upcoming show and see what Audi has in its stores for us. After the Audi R8's photoshoot, this is something big coming from the house of German automaker.
