The newest member of the Audi family has finally arrived in the local market, which is as exciting and promising like the other members. We are talking about the recently launched, 2018 Audi Q2, which made its entry in the local market last month. Introduced as the entry-level premium crossover, it not only reflects the futuristic design of the brand, it also ensures the great driving dynamics and on the par functionality.

So, here is our take on the youngest model of the ‘Q’ series which is all set to make new standards for the direct rivals.

The Look

Q2 Front

Riding on the MQB platform, the Q2 reflects the true DNA of Audi in various aspects. To begin, the front features angled headlight clusters, cube-shaped lower air intakes, and a single-frame octagonal grille, which grants the bold and aggressive look to the Q2.

Q2 Side

The low roof merges smoothly into the C-pillar which is further accentuated with a range of color blades option.

2018 Audi Q2 Rear

The rear features a cubed LED taillights, a lower diffuser finished in black with two exhaust pipes paired together.

The Launch Edition of the crossover gets 18-inch bespoke alloy wheels with 215/50 R18 tyres at the front and 215/55 R17 at the rear, which not only gives a sporty touch, they also improve the grip on the road quite effectively. Considering the dimensions of the 2018 Q2, it looks more like a sporty hatchback than a crossover but, Audi’s engineering ensures it is one of the most capable options in the segment.

The Cabin

Q2 Cabin

The interiors are quite similar to the A3 which can be seen from the dashboard layout. Even the seating position is similar to a sedan and cannot be termed as a proper crossover seating. What makes the Q2 exciting is its wide range customizability that makes the cabin ambiance pleasant and refreshing when compared to other models in the segment. You get an LED lighting package to illuminate the cabin with a choice of 10 different colours.

Audi Q2 instrument cluster

In terms of equipment, Q2 gets Audi’s MMI infotainment system that can be connected to a wi-fi hotspot and can help a user in streaming videos from the smartphone to multimedia interface.

The Virtual Cockpit comprises a 12.3-inch TFT display, which replaces the traditional gauge clusters that come with two modes - one is focused on driving information and the other on navigation and multimedia data. There is also a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system with 705 watts output that creates a theatre like environment within the car. A head-up display is also equipped which further assist the driver.

Engine Options

For the Philippines market, Audi Philippines has offered two engine options. The first is 1.4 TFSI petrol engine that delivers 150 hp of maximum power and comes with cylinder deactivation feature to improve the efficiency. The another option is a 1.6-litre TDI engine that delivers 116 hp of maximum power. Audi has focused on ensuring improved performance along with less carbon emission that makes Audi Q2 in delivering most out of any road.

Though the car has been revealed in the market, it is not officially available for sale. But, it is expected that Audi Philippines will begin the sales by October 2017. Let’s wait and see how the new crossover performs in real conditions.
